Shinies: Call of Light

This game is not as easy as it looks and isn't for beginners. You will probably have to stop and think about how to progress, which is usually about using mechanics in an unexpected way. You need to be precise and agile in your movement, and the secret areas are hard to access.

Gameplay:

Play as a Shinie, a small but kind creature. Form a bond with your in-game Shinie friend as you help, protect and rescue each other to progress through the dangers and solve challenging puzzles. Some enemies will be in their way. You will also get to enjoy much easier areas with relaxing atmospheres. The story and lore are mysterious and difficult to figure out, but the adventure and the emotions are about the friend you made along the way.

Atmospheres:

The game is filled with various atmospheres. Some are dark and threatening, while some are much more relaxing. Some have heavy wind and lightning strikes, others have mesmerizing grass and vegetation with flowing leaves. A lot of volumetric fog and lighting is used. Each area has its own music.

Secret Areas:

The secret areas are quite large and very important. They have a secret image that reveals some lore, but only if interpreted correctly, which is not obvious. The images will be regrouped at the end of the game. However, getting to a secret area is very difficult as you'll usually have to find an unusual way to use puzzle mechanics to get to them, and prove some serious precision and agility in your movement.

Story, Lore, Context and Connections to other projects:

This is the first game of the Shinies Trilogy, which is only a piece of the much bigger world that I have been working on for over 10 years, which has hundreds of pages of notes (and they're not random at all). Many games and some books are being made. It is not about making simple references between each project, everything is actually linked and is in the same world. If you pay attention to everything, you will be able to make the connections and understand the story and lore much better, sometimes discovering an entire side of the story.

For example, the book I am working on is written from the perspective of a very important character of the Shinies trilogy. By reading the book, you will be able to learn about how she got here, her decisions, her thoughts during certain important in-game events and some of the context of the trilogy. She has seen things that you won't see in the game, and knowing about them will solve some mysteries.

Those connections are well thought and meant to make you feel certain emotions, they're not just there for the sake of being there.

Future games will reveal the true purpose of the Shinies from completely different characters. This trilogy is a side story of the main story of my world but plays a very important role in it.
