Star Squadrons is a fast-paced, tactical sci-fi trading card game that brings the focus back to playing with each other — not just alongside each other.

No mana. No traditional life points. Maximum player interaction.

Choose your starting hand, deploy your squadron face down and fight for control across five locations on changing battlefields. The Browser Alpha is playable now for free. The free public alpha of Star Squadrons is scheduled to launch on November 6, 2026 at 9:00 PM CET via Steam Playtest, with full crossplay between Steam and browser.

Play against other players or bots while Star Squadrons continues to expand toward its complete digital version. The digital version will remain completely free to play for at least one year and will provide unrestricted access to the full tournament version of Star Squadrons, including preconstructed decks.

This is not a limited free demo — our game is being built to remain fully playable for free during this period.

Play-2-Claim connects Ranked digital gameplay directly with real physical Star Squadrons collectible cards.

Ranked Play is already live in the browser and the Steam Playtest. During each Play-2-Claim Test Month in October and November 2026, complete at least 20 Ranked Matches to qualify for physical card rewards:

Top 25 qualified players receive a guaranteed physical Star Squadrons card

25 additional cards are raffled among the remaining qualified players

Wins are not required to qualify

The first official Play-2-Claim Season launches in December 2026, followed by monthly Play-2-Claim seasons.

The first Star Squadrons Kickstarter is planned for Q1 2027 and will introduce three fully playable, tournament-ready preconstructed decks into your own hands:

Choose a faction. Get a complete tournament-ready deck. Start playing.

No booster chase is required to build your first competitive deck.

The Kickstarter decks are intended to remain eligible for official tournament play for at least two years.

DIGITAL AND PHYSICAL — ONE CONNECTED TCG ECOSYSTEM

Star Squadrons is being built as one connected digital and physical Trading Card Game.

Your digital Star Squadrons account is designed to follow you into local stores and physical tournaments. Results from sanctioned physical play will be credited back to your digital account with an additional progression multiplier, rewarding players for competing both online and at real-world events.

Play-2-Claim rewards, Ranked competition, physical cards, local tournaments and player progression all become part of the same connected ecosystem.

AI Transparency in Development

All STAR SQUADRONS card illustrations are created by human artists. Thomas has developed and refined the game’s rules over more than ten years.

Our digital Community Alpha is a playable prototype that lets us test the game together with you and gather feedback to guide further development. Our solo developer uses AI-assisted tools to develop its code and our user interface.

Following successful Kickstarter funding, we plan to accelerate the technical redevelopment of the digital game, building on the established rules and the lessons learned from the Community Alpha.
