Age of Gods

Age of Gods is a free-to-play turn-based strategy game for 2 to 8 players. Every player leads the army of a god. You hold villages, towers and portals for gold, spend that gold summoning units, and fight over a tile map where unit classes decide who wins each matchup. Attacks never miss and damage is never rolled, so most fights are won or lost by where your units stand.

How a match plays

Every turn you collect gold from the villages, portals, towers and temples you control. You summon at your portal, and each god's units come in five tiers. Summoning from your current tier opens up the next one, so the biggest units take a while to reach the board.

Units come in seven classes with fixed matchups. Rangers beat mages, mages beat warriors and warriors beat rangers, while flyers, titans, skirmishers and helpers have matchups of their own. Terrain changes fights too, and there are over 80 unit abilities on top of that, from poison and freezing to stealth, auras and units that come back from the dead.

The gods

There are 13 gods to fight for, and 6 of them are free (Ruin, Sanctus, Equinox, Elven, Wrath and Sunblade). Each has a roster of 11 to 15 units, and every player also gets a shared pool of neutral units, so there are over 150 units in all. In most games you can field units from up to three gods at once.

The other 7 gods (Necros, Skyborne, Tribal, Nordheim, Igneous, Spirit and Drakonis) are in the in-game store, in two faction bundles. You can also unlock any of them with achievement points.

Campaigns

The Ruin campaign is free, with 16 missions, and there's a new mission challenge every week. The Necros, Equinox, Sanctus and Igneous campaigns are in the in-game store, and the Eternal Pantheon bundle there unlocks every god and every campaign at once. Missions come with their own maps and opponents, and many of them reward units you can use for the rest of that campaign.

New in version 8.0

Every unit is now an animated 3D model with its own idle, walk, attack and death animations. Ranged units fire their own projectiles, and flyers beat their wings and fall onto their tile when they die. The menus, lobby and HUD have a new look, every map theme has new painted terrain, and the new faction screen lets you look through each god's units before you pick.

Windows, macOS and Linux players all play on the same servers.
