Long ago, the land of Altrais stood on the brink of a Golden Age.

A benevolent king dreamed of uniting the seven races beneath a single banner, bringing an end to generations of conflict and establishing a kingdom built on peace and cooperation. With the guidance of the mysterious Ancients, he sought to create a world where the races could prosper together.

But something sinister was stirring in the East.

An ancient evil had quietly spread its influence throughout the land, turning allies against one another and feeding the distrust that threatened the king's vision. When the king learned of the approaching darkness, he set out alone to confront it.

He never returned.

With his death, the dream of a united Altrais collapsed. The seven races withdrew into their own territories, old rivalries resurfaced, and the legendary Crown of Altrais vanished into history.

Centuries passed, and the Golden Age became little more than a forgotten legend.

But legends have a way of returning.

An Unlikely Hero

You begin your journey not as a legendary warrior or a chosen king, but as a humble squire serving the King of the Humans.

Orphaned after a tragic fire claimed your family, you were taken in by the king and raised within his household. Though he treated you with compassion, the political realities of the kingdom prevented him from acknowledging you as his own heir.

Your life has been one of duty, loyalty, and service.

But as rumors spread of a renewed threat from the East, the fate of Altrais begins to change.

The lost Crown remains hidden. The legendary armor once worn by the ancient king is scattered or missing. And the darkness that destroyed the kingdom's first chance at peace has begun moving once again.

What begins as the journey of an ordinary squire may become something far greater.

Destiny of Altrais: Reforged — Development Update

Destiny of Altrais is undergoing an ongoing restoration and improvement effort known as Destiny of Altrais: Reforged.

The goal is to preserve the original game's story, world, and classic RPG identity while addressing technical issues, improving existing systems, and refining the overall gameplay experience.

Development has resumed, with improvements planned and implemented progressively. The current Steam release remains the original game as this work continues.
